One can close his eyes - but what about the ears? ADD

Oh, what a noisy World! Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)

The topic of ADD and ADHD is discussed controversially in the scientific literature. While experts like Coles, Fleisher or Breggin go so far as to say that the attention deficit syndrome lacks any substantiated evidence, many other experts believe that ADD / ADHD is a neurological syndrome that may be genetic.

Only in one thing, the experts agree and admit: "The primary cause and the mechanism underlying the ADD or ADHD remains unknown to this day". Studies suggesting a change in the function and structure of the brains in ADHD and ADHD sufferers are not scientifically meaningful, since the confusion of cause and effect can not be ruled out (Hüther / Bonney 2002). In addition, not a single brain injury, neurotransmitter system or gene has been identified as a primary trigger of ADD / ADHD.

One thing is undisputed: The number of children and adults suffering from the symptoms of ADD or ADHD has increased exponentially since the second half of the 20th century until today. Now that the primary causes are still unknown, we too can only begin with the symptoms of the two disorders.

But to be clear: The Tomatis Method is not a substitute for medical treatment of diagnosed ADD or ADHD! We can only alleviate certain symptoms beyond medical treatment.

In doing so, we draw on the many years of experience in testing and working with ADD or ADHD sufferers. In addition to the classical medicine treatment model for ADD and ADHD (mostly drug and behavioral intervention) from our point of view, it's worth it to consider other unfavourable factors in common, all of which are linked to a specific test result of our tests. These can be:

Food intolerance

allergies

Pregnancy or birth trauma

anxiety disorders

and some more…

If our test results point to one of these disorders, we first refer to the clarification or treatment by a specialist. We have a broad network to ensure an interdisciplinary approach. If none of these factors are present, you can start directly with Tomatis® listening training. In our experience, almost all people with ADD can not filter out ambient sound well. They are over-penetrated with a multitude of sound events from which they find no protection. Whether it's the ticking of the kitchen clock, the scratching of the pencils at school or the raindrops on the roof tiles. Everything patters on the perception system, without those affected can defend themselves. But they seem to seek protection by trying to pull back. Often this affects the environment as if they were dreaming. In fact, they are also "absent-minded", but constantly busy with a good dozen, simultaneously acting sound events. Then those affected simply can not manage to meet the demands of others (for example, at school).

This can't go on! But how can one continue?

While the same causes are assumed for these two completely different disorders in classical medicine and a consistent treatment model for ADD and ADHD (mostly drug and behavioral intervention) is derived from this, over the many years in our tests it has been shown that ADS and ADHD are more about two completely different causal complexes.
